HONGKONG RAINFALL.

1920 a Very Wet Year. Royal Observatory raturns show that during December the average mean temperature was 648, the highest point being 76.5, on the 3rd. and the lowest 57, on the 14th. Thera were 105.1 hours of sunshine and 1.81-inch of rain. The average humidity was 79.

The total rainfall for the year 1920 at the Observatory WAE 107.88 inches (on Tôl daya); mij the Botanical Gardens, 124.04 inches (on 173 days); at the Matilda Hospital, 97.97 inches (on 166 days); and at the Police Station, Taipo, 12036 (on 163 days).

According to official records recently issued, the beaviest rainfall registered at the Übaer- vatory in one year was 119.75 inches in 1889. It will thus be seen that the year 1920 was abnormally wet, the averago yearly fall in Hongkong being! 83.83. On only three occasions since 1884 has the 1920 fall been exceeded.
