The annual ball given by the [Taikoo Recreation Club at their Club-house last night W39 [celebrated by some thres Kundred [members and friends. The ac- commodation, though somewhat limited, considering the number of those present, was utilised to ne purpose, and the decorative jeffects of the work of the Com-. mittee were revealed to be of a simple, bat perfectly tasteful [character. The approaches to the Club were festooned with (coloured bunting, whilst over the jonirance wera brilliant illumina- Hora leading to the hall where The work of the Decorations Com- mittee was evident in the impres- sive range of decorations. The her-room and supper rooms were located on the ground floor, and by ascending the stair-case the gorgeous effects of the illumita- tions of the Ball room came into view. Herecoloured bulbs, Japan. ese lanterns, tags and greenery had been used to fine effect. At the head of the room, an ornate platform had been built for | Professor Gonzales' band, whilst

the long room situated adjacent ; to the Hall served ideal sitting out place for dancers. The Decorations (ommittee had certainly excelled themselves all rund.
