SPEED LIMIT FOR MOTORS.

"DANGEROUS DRIVING-

BEST STANDARD.

Is there any advantage in having a fixed speed limit? This is the important qusation raised by the Now Road Trafic Bill drafted by the Motor Legislation seat to the Committee and Ministry of Transport for approval.

There is one," was the reply of Mr. Gibson, legal adviser to the Automobile Association, to a Duty Ghronicle representative. |"The proper method of dealing with the person who drives at an excessive speed is to prosecute biu for dangerous driving." he Baid.

A man might be driving dangers ously at the speed of seven miles per hour in a narrow, crowded tboroughfare, but ou an open and clear highway he might be quita justified, from a safety point of slow, la driving at 30 miles an hour."

Other interesting features of the new Traffic Bill, said Mr. Gibeon, concern the penalties for motor thefts and damage to cars, removal of license endorsements after a clear two years, and the carriage of lights by all animals' driven or led upon the roads.

Questioned as to the safety of the pedestrian under the new Bill should it come into operation, THURSDAY, SOTH SEPT.

Mr. Gibeon said that the person Philippine Islands, Sandakan, who was crossing the road would
