The Central News says a firm of importers of German goods viaf Holland displayed at their offices in the Strand a range of suitings sent from Germany, on approval, this which may be sold in country made up, and ready to wear at from balf-a-crown to 10s.1 6d.'per suit.
These suits ("ready-mades ") are manufactured of paper and are cut to English styles. One thousand of them can be forward-1 ed f.o.b. for £120. Certain samples of the completed suits were per mitted to pass the Custome at a declared value of 10d. per article. The firm of agent's dealing with these German goods declare that under the system of buying German paper suitings at the present rate of exchange it would be possible for an Englishman to be comfortably dressed," in a
