FRENCH NATIONAL DAY.

Paris, July, 15. It is reported from Barlin that the French flag, which was hoisted on the Embassy on the occasion of the celebration of July 14th was removed by a person who climbed on the roof. It was immediately replaced. The French representative has protested to the German Government.

Berlin, July 15.

The Folice are offering a reward of 10,000 marks for the capture of the man who cut down the Tricolour on the French Embassy. The policemen who made no attempt to prevent the cutting down of the tag have been suspended.

Berlin, July 16.

In reparation for the bauling dawn of the French Flag to-day, the Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs and a leading Police repre- sentative called on the Embassy and expressed the Government's regrets.

Subsequently, a company of the Reichswehr marched past the Embassy, and, as the flag was hoisted, they saluted.

P

Leading French officers and members of the Embassy were on the balcony.

The Reichswehr, as they arched off. sang "Deutschland Uber Alles." The crowd vigorously cheered.

The Reichswehr only participated in the ceremony after intuen tial persuasion, but refused to don their parade uniform.

Pos sibly the negotiations may be deferred until California adopts re- strictive measures. but it is not doubted that negotiations will be promptly follow such action.
