ME. LLOYD GEORGE'S PROMISE..

Lordon, June it.

In the House of Commons, replying to Col. Lestrange Malone, Mr. Lloyd George denied that the Anglo-Japanese Agreements of 1905 and 1911 infringed the integrity of Chinese territory without the consent of the Chinese Government. He pointed out that China had not yet ratified the Austrian Prare Treaty, of which the Covenant of the League of Nations is a part.

4

With regard to Col. Malone's suggestion that before any further Treaties or agreements are made they should be referred to the League of Nations, Mr. Lloyd George emphasised that the Govern ment had every intention of strictly adhering to Article XVIII of the Covenant of the League.

Article XVIII of the Covenant of the League reads " Every. Treaty or international engagement entered into here after by any member of the League shall be forthwith registered with the secretariat and shall as soon as possible be published by it. No auch Treaty or international engagement shall be binding until so registered.")
