There has been a phenomenal.] Įjump in China Sugar shares, the

market

rising yesterday by twenty points. During the last three days there has been a rise! of nearly forty paints and the market is quite excited.

We have endeavoured to ascer~; tain the cause of the frenzied buying of these shares on the Stock Exchange, and learn that it is reported that the Cuban crop has been very poor and that the price of sugar in Java is steadily going up

In this connection it a stated that the China Sugar Refining | Company had made very heavy purchases of the commodity, and has booked, contracts for the whole year.
