MANILA RICE CONTROL.
SERIOUS ALLEGATION OF GRAFT. Revelations of graft in the rice- producing provinces of the Philip-i ine Islands will be forthcoming shortly, says a Manila paper, and present indications are that the Government, in order to preserve its own good name, will be com- pelled to rescind or radically modify the present restrictions upon rice traffic.
Accordingtoauthentic informa- tion secured from official sources. it appears that provincial officials and employees in the most im- portant rice-producing provinces. of Luzon are implicated in the; charges soon to be aired. Under existing regulations, the Pro- vincial Treasurer of the province in which the rice is produced is empowered to handle the move.
