SOME PARIS EXAGGERA- TIONS.
Turbans of metal tissue with huge bunches of aigrettes fasten- ed by jewelled clasps, wreaths of aigrettes and Paradise plumes, and immense fans of ostrich ( feathers on sticks. are now quite usual appendages to very decollete dresses in Paris. Unless the wearet of so many feathers and so few draperies is uncommonly good-looking, the result risks being merely barbaric. One! striking head-dress recently seen consisted of pearls fitting close like a Juliette cap. and there were coiffures of jewelled bands or metal flower wreaths. FANTASTIC EFFECTS.
Hair-dressing styles for the evening are just now decidedly fantastic. The newest way of doing the hair suggests the woollen bair of the rag dolls,. It looks like a mop on the top of the head. and ends "are scratched down all round the brow, ears, and neck in a short, ragged fringe, held flat by a band of ribbon, or silver, or beads.
There is one coiffure which is known as the "sauvagesse,” made only of aigrettes closely packed together to look as wild as possible. Even the dressing of the bait itself is now roughly curly rather than neat and glossy, although many women still prefer to look neat rather than be in the latest fashion. Wreaths of coloured leaves round curly cushions of hair make another coiffure, known as "bacchante," which is worn for the theatre, and, toques of) leaves and flowers are worn for afternoon cails as well as the wild feather toques one has seen for some time. Most hats turn up from the brow, and some have trimmings of feathers starting up from them directly from the brow: straight soft, quills, bushy aigrettes, loops of ribbon, and bunches of uncurled ostrich feathers. Everything in millinery bas been a little wild and exagger- ated, but there is a promise of Beater hats for the spring, and the hope of more flowers than feathers is held out to us. Kid and suede are still used. but straw, soft, liable and shing, is being made. UP into hate for the Riviera. White hate in various materials are having a certain vogue, as they always do at the beginning of the year.
The neatness of the best dressed women in Paris is very noticeable. If they dress in brown, every- thing they wear is brown: boots, coat, dress, aari bat. The shades vary, but the whole offers a very pleasing harmony. The same rule applies to all colours and to
THE BOBBED HAIR EFFECT.
For this style of hair-dressing the hair must be arranged very fatly at the nape of the neck, and drawn low over the ears to give the bobbed hair effect.

If the hair is dry and brittle, it should be treated with vaseline or clive oil, rabbed into the scalp in small quantities, each night for a period of eight or ten days. In doing this, care must be observed to prevent the oil from getting into the hair itself. At the end of the period of treatment the hair should be shampooed rinsed and dried in the open air and sunlight.
