PRESENTATION TO INSPECTOR
EUSTACE.
An interesting ceremony took place at Mr. F. C. Jenkin's office yesterday afternoon when Mr. Eustace, Inspector in charge of Na (British) Platoon of the Hongkong Police Reserve before the corps was disbanded, was presented with a magnificent silver rose bowl. The gift was made by members of his platoon who also presented a cheque to Mrs. Eustace. The rose bowl bears the following inscrip tion: "Presented to Inspector W, A. Eustace, officer in charge of "No. 1 (British) Platoon of the H.K.P.R. Force, 1915-1919. A token of res pect and appreciation from his In-l spectors. Crown Sergeants, Ser- geants and Constables."
Mr. C. Gerkin said that it was a well-known fact that Mr. Eustace was among the first who joined the Police Reserve and he had done a tremendous amount of quiet bot solid work during the activities of the Forte. They had often come into contact with Mr. Eustace to consult him on various matters and on each occasion he had received them with great courtesy and kind- ness. The speaker referred to the many good qualities of Mr. Eustare and said that they had much pleasure in presenting him with a rose how? which they hoped woule remind him of his colleagues and the time when he was Jnspector. In addition to the rose how they wished to ask him to accept a cheque for a small sum for his wife. He hoped Mrs. Eustace would buy a souvenir with the cheque to re- wind her of the esteem in which her husband was held by the meri of No. 1 Platoon. If the Police Reserve were resurrected he (Mr. Gerkin) and his comrades would be pleased to serve under Mr. Eustace as Inspector again.
