THE WILTSHIRES
H.E. Major General Ventris,, the G.O.C., at the annual general inspection of the 2nd Battalion of the Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire) Regiment this morn- ing presented a number of war medals to the members of the Regiment.
After the inspection the follow- ing were called up and given their decorations:-

C. 8. M. Holloway, D.Co.-This Sergeant Major was in charge of, a patrol near Locon, on Augus: 10. 1918. Ho located enems post and under his Initiative the post was attacked and the enemy line fored to retire, slowing our own troops in continue the advance which had had been previously checked.
Sergeant E. Rogers, B.Co.--This sergedit was signalling sergeant of the 1st Battalion Wiltshire Re- giment, and during an inter-battu- lion reli on 10th August. 1917. the enzmy counter-attacked. This N.C.O did valuable work in maintaining connections between the Battalion Headquarters and the Company, and also the Brigade Headquarters."

Private C. Roster, C. Co,-This private was employed as runner at Battalion Headquaṛ- ters. He carried messages during the German offensive near Chumsy, during the períod between May 20th and June 6, 1918. He did excellent work in carrying messages under heavy machine-gun and rifle fire between Brigade Headquarters and the front line.
