London, Jan. 12. A Cairo telegram of Jan. 8th says the situation in Syria is ex- zeedingly grave. The "Matin" reports that the Ceylon has landed a considerable number of passengers saved from the Afrique at La Pallice. Some of the saved have arrived at Port Rochefort.
