CANTON'S TUCHUN.
RUMOURED ASSASSINATED
Private information from Wu- abow speaks of the rumoured assassination of Mak Wing- son, the Tuchun of Canton. It is also stated that his not returning to Canton will be explained away by the state- ment that he has retired from official life. Those from whom the information comes say that it is fortunate for Shum Chung- haun that he changed his mind as regards going with Mok Wing- son to Kwongsi, as he would pro- bably have met with a similar fate.
The prevailing rumour in Can- ton is that after Mok Wing-son had accepted membership in the Political Educational Society, promoted by the Military Govern- mont, the whole of its members lost the favour of Lux Wing-ting's
party
The duties of Tuchun are now being discharged by the following Commanders: Ma Choi, Lum Fu. Sum Hung-ying and Lau Chen-lak, together
the Nası Superintendent of l'alice
