THE HUNAN SITUATION.
Shanghai, October 31. The Central Government has wired to Ng Pui-foo, the Chief Commander of Hunan, to investigate and report on two important points as to why no report has been received regarding the rumour that the forces of the South have been strengthened at many strategic points; and if an attack is made by the Southern troops whether the strength of the Northern forces is sufficient for defensive purposes.
MONGOLIAN MATTERS.
Shanghai, October 31. There are many conditions demanded by the Urga Government on the cancellation of Mongolian independence contained in the official document which has been received and submitted to the
committee of the Tibetan and Mongolian affairs for discussion. These will be published when a thorough investigation has been reported by Chu Shi-tsang, who left Peking for Urga a few days ago.
