There Quinnebaug can, however, be no question, I Haihong..... think, that it would land con- siderable safety at sea if all ships were so equipped so that even small boats within a radius of from 50 to 100 miles could be summoned to render assistance in case of need. There can be no better evidence of this than the case of the Titanic, where so many people lost their lives through insufficient assistance arriving in time, although it was subsequently calculated that a number of small boats were with- in a useful distance and could have given help had they had the meens of receiving the Titanic's wireless call.
