Thus strikes of Municipal employees, a Kensington and Paddington which endangered the helh by a fortnights secumalation of refuse collapsed it, an the men disregarding the sdrice of leaders and reda unconditionally on the appearance of petters Dim applications for permanent pensioned, employment position at Liverpool is normal. The Watch Comman Saturday told a Trade Unionist deputation that they adhere to the refusal to reinstate the police strikers. The pream of troops and the reappearance of uniformed constables has cowed the hooligans who, far from resuming excesses, are seeking to escape punishment by depositing loot inside streets under cover of darkness. Detectives raided many houses and recovered stolen property.

The only remaining here of the extremists is direct action. The ballot of the Triple Alliance, which is now proceeding, will not be completed before the end of the month but there are indications that this policy is losing ground. Mr. Thomas, MP at Yarmouth, warned the workers that the constant threat of downing tools, was disastrous. It was losing its power and doing incalcziable harm. He had been condemned for his refusal to call out. the railwaymen in support of every dispute, but such an action would merely lead to chaos and anarchy. The only safe road to progress was Constitutional Government. Mr. Carter, M.P., a member of the Miners' Federation, speaking at Nottingham, opposed the direct action policy of the Triple Alliance as injurious to the country and bad policy. A special conference of the Lancashire and Cheshiry Miners", Federation held at Bolton resolved to advise miners against direct action. Mr. Walsh, M... told the conference that direct action was the policy of disappointed politicians unable to enter Parliament but desirous of gaining power. by another way. He announced that Scotland Yard had *eized documents indicating a plot to establish a Soviet Government in London. Arrests were expected.

WISEMAN'S CAFE ENTERED.

Yollanother robbery is reported in the heart of the city Bathap pily it was not crowned with success. A burglary was com hitted last night at Wiseman's Cafe between 10.30 and 11:30,

"Apparently the burglar made an entrance from the alley beswaan- Powell's Building and Wiseman's. Cafa getting through the bread shop into the Cafe, and. finally into the pantry. or that the door was purposely left unlocked. It was a clean entry into the bread shop, no instrument being used. The door between the bread shop and the cafe was padlocked, and, here the robber or robbers experienced difficulty. But they sur mounted it by chiselling the lock, the chisel being left behind as a souvenir of the event ---

The burglare evidently knew. the cafe thoroughly for when inside they made a straight dash for the safe in the pantry.T safe contained over $2,000 and 1 surprising part of the whole en terprise is that although the first part of opening the safe was accomplished, they could not get through the inner part, They coult not open the portion that contained the money, hard as they tried.

At about 1130 Messrs. Powell and Co.'s watchman saw a coolie: whom he says he recognised es one of the men employed in the Cafe, going out. This has practic ally established the suspicion that some-one in the employ of of Wiseman's Cafe is the bugar, and that he knew about the work- ing of the safe on the premises but not sufficiently well to enable him to unlock the inner part of the safe.

Fortunately, nothing was taken- from the premises.
