THE CRY FOR BETTER TRAVEL FACILITIES.
We are informed that a number « of property and land-owners in the New Territories served by the railway have sent B joint petition to Mr. Baker, Man- ager of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, asking for a late train on Sunday bid public holidays.
It is to be hoped that Mr. Baker will see bis way to accede to this request, as in these, hotsommer days one can harty do any useful out-door work in the country until the bat has somewhat subsided, and without a late train this is impossible, as, according to present arrange- ments, the last train to leave Sheung Shui and Fanling is at. 6.26 pm which is exactly the time' one most enjoys being out in the country. There is stready a late train running on Wednesdays, but although avail- ed of to a great extent by golf enthusiasts, it is of but little use. to land-owners, most of whom of whom are busy men and cannot manage to get away on Wednes days.
