WHAT THE ALLIES HOPE.
Paris, July 8.
The Allied Reply to the Austrian Note as regards the League of Nations expresses satisfaction at the adherence of the Austrian Delegation to the project of the League and says the Allies have i carefully considered Austria's demand for admission as an original member of the League. It points out that the Allies never intended to exclude Austria for any great length of time from the League; on the contrary, their hope and conviction is that the League will at the "earliest moment include all nations that can be trusted to carry out the obligations of the League. The Allies see no reason why Austria should not apply for admission to the League at the earlest opportunity offering after ratification of the Treaty. As soon as the Allies are assured that Austria possesses a responsible Government capable of fulfilling international obligations, the Allies are prepared to support Austria's candidature for admission.
