In the striking article printed below, from the Daily Chronicle, Mr. Philip Gibbs describes how our returding soldiers, back from the desert of old battlefields, 'are seeing England in golden May with new eyes, and are making pilgrimages to old familiar haunts to recapture the spirit that lived before the war-

In a world still full of trouble, and so saddened by memories that even the word "Victory has a mocking sound, it is at least comforting to home-coming Englishmen that their country is as beautiful now, in this golden weather of May, as their vision of it was when they thought back to if a year ago two, three, four years ago from a ditch in Flan- ders under shellfire, or from a dirty billet in a.
