ANNUAL MERTING AT SHANGHAT

The annual general meeting of the Shanghai Women's Club was held recently at the Carlton Cafe, when Mrs. W. H. Lunt presided. Reports on the sativities of the various departments during the. year were read by Mr. R. B Nichols, social department; Mrs. Ashley, music department; Mrs. Remur, social services; Mrs. Bald- win, literary department; Mrs. Vilandaki, membership; Mrs. Mac- beth, courtesies department. Out lines of the work for the forthcom- ing year were given by Mrs. Sawyer, who stated that the Music Department would study British compos ra next season, while, Mrs. Lobingier announced that the literary department: would continue their studies of China, with special reference to art and literature.".

The report of the treasurer, Mrs. Boynton, was adopted, and the treasurer suggested that $100 should be set aside towards the permanent equipment of the club. Mrs. Seeman was appointed treasurer for the enaning year.

A proposition was also brought | forward by Mrs. Morris that the members should consider the matter of admitting Chinese girl students, trained in America to the privileges of the club.

Dr. Ethel Polk, recently return- ed from Siberia, where she has been doing surgical work in.com- nection with the Red Cross, gave an interesting account of her ex- periences and

showed some excellent pictures taken among the people with whom she worked. The proceedings closed by the president thanking the members for the co-operation and help they had given during the year, and votes of thanks were accorded Dr. L. Folk for her address, and Mr. L Ladow for his courtesies during the year.
