The question of industrial pro- blems also was "touched upon, and it was felt that the Chinese Church stands for protection of the working classes from long hours of labour, inadequate wages. and unsuitable work.

The question of social evila such as. gambling, opium smok- ing, alcohol, and cigarette smok- ing, was also referred to. The question of the social evil aroused considerable interest. Reference was "made to the fact that several organisations
