THE PEAK TRAM.

Sir, I shall feel much obliged to you for allowing space in your valuable paper for the following:

Yesterday afternoon my little Pekinese dog was unfortunately left behind on Barker Road tram-

in

tation and it was thought it would find its way back to the house. However. on coming home fate

afternoon I the found the dog was *still alent and several servants were therefore despatched in different directions on the Peak in order to trace its whereabouts but without success. Finally we were informed by telephone, by a very kind-hearted lady, that a small black and white dog, believed to be ours, had apparently been killed by the Peak tram, as it was seen lying in a mutilated condition at Barker Road Station. I immedi- ately telephoned to the Peak tram- station and an inquiry it was con- firmed by, as far as I could make out, the chief tram collector, who stated that a dog answering the description of my dog had been killed on the line that afternoon. Before I had mentioned my name, I was asked whether I was Mr. Sorensen, so it was quite clear to me that it was known to the tram staff that I was the owner of the dog. On my asking whether the Peak Police had been informed, the answer was "No", and I told him, then that the least that

could be expected was that either
