which the troops landed on to V Beach, Gallipoli, is to be salved. Already work is in progress, and it is expected that she will be refloated by the middle of this month. In the temporary repairs which being made in order to bring her to the United Kingdom care is being taken not to obliterate any of her distinctive features.

When travelling down the Yer South Wales coast a few weeks back, the Dutch steamer Hout- man ran into heavy seas. The third officer, Marimus Schnewart, was caught by a heavy ware and burled to the deck, and he died shortly afterwards. Two mem. bers of the crew, both Javanese greasers, were crushed by the deck gear, and now lie in the Sydney hospital in a serious con- dition.
