DEATH OF NOTED DIVINE,
The death occurred recently at his residence, 24, Handen-road, Lee, S. E., of the Rev. Imac Levin- aon,Secretary of the BritishSociety for the Propagation of the Gospel Among the Jews. He was aged 6 and had been suffering from heart trouble. Four of his SORB have served in the Army.

Girl workers in London are feeling the effects of demobilis- tion in an unexpected way. When they go room-unting they find themselves faced by the old notice of "Gentlemen lodgers only.” Every women's residential club and hostel in London has a long waiting list. There are, more- over, thousands of girls who final hostel life uncomfortable. For them the ideal is a little at or rooms they can furnish in accor dance with their own taste. But these are made impossible by the increased tenis sad the rise in the cost of furniture.

A joint sitting of Congrees was held recently in memory of the late Mr. Roosevelt. Members of the Cabinet, "the Supreme Court, and the Diplomatic Corps, naval and military oficers and other prominent personages were present. Senator Lodge, who was the only speaker, paid a lofty tribute to Mr. Roosevelt. Prayers were said by the Chaplains of the Senate and the House of Representatives, and the playing of anthems and patriotic songe by a naval band added a stirring touch to the service. The churches all observed to-day as "Roosevelt Senilay,' and many tributes were paid to his memory,
THE LANDING AT GALLIPOLI. The Duke of Portland, replying, to reports that he has been mak ing profit by providing land for military camps on his property, atates that at the commencement of the war he voluntarily offered Welbeck Park, or any other por- tion of his Nottinghamshire estate, to the War Office for the establishment of military camps. In the result a large hutment camp was formed at Clipstone, and summer campe have also been formed in Welbeck Park and at Carburton, and there are still a number of soldiers Clipstone and a less number occupying the buildings at Wel- beck: No rent, Government allowance, of billeting money has been asked for or received by the Duke, either directly or indirectly, for the use of the land.
