PEACE FOR CHINA.

A SHANGHAI COMMERCIAL DEMAND.

Shanghai, March 19.

The Chinese, commercial bodies held a mass meeting this afternoon to insist on the conclusion of peace in China, both sides waiving technicalities. They threaten refusal to pay further taxes or even the closing of their shops as a silent protest, unless the leader of the North and South comply, but there is little hope here that the deadlock can be broken.
