The Hon. Mr. Holyoak moved the second reading of the Bill intituled An Ordinance to autho- rise the Union Insurance Society of Canton Limited to convert its silver capital into gold.

The Hon. Mr. P. H. Holyoak said the conversion was passed by a special resolution si s meet- ing of shareholders to the effect given in the Bill. The Union Insurance Society of Canton was well known and was one of the oldest established firms of its kind in the Far East. It started from a very small local concern and it had developed into the pre-
