As there appears to be some uncertainty as to the inscriptions which the public will be allowed! to place on the headstones in war cemeteries abroad, the Imperial War Graves Commission nounce that apart from reserving to themselves the right to reject obviously unsuitable proposals, they wish to exercise no consor- ship. Personal feelings of relatives will be in every WBT respected, and though inscrip tions should be in the nature of a text or prayer they need by! no means be Emited to quotations from the Bible or Praver Book. The only point on which they insist is that the in- scriptions must not be more than three lines in length. On each headstone there will be inscribed} the appropriate religious symbol,| which will be, for instance, the Cross for Christian and the Shield of David for Jewish graves, the badge of the regiment or other anit to which the officer pr man belonged, and his name, rank, regiment, and, date of death. The Governments of the different States of the Empire have decided that they should bear the cost of providing these headstores and inscriptions.

Strange disclosures of what becomes of discarded Army clothing were made in a case at Tower Bridge

Police Court recently. A corporal in the RA.M.C-Joseph Edwards, storekeeper at the 1st London General Hospital, Camberwell was fined £10 for stealing sheets, towels, oic., value £6.'. The police had learned that a lot of Army underclothing, cardigan jackets, etc., were being sold in Bermondsey, and a search of the hoase of Edwards' wife Stanworth-street revealed .. vanload of vests, pants, shirts,' cardigan jackets, towels, pyjama suits, books, blankets, sheets, boots, dressing-gowns, etc. They had been

Another day 800 repatriated prisoners of war from Germany left the hos- pital and gave me a heap of stuff that was no use to them."
