Judge Rentoul's Pratast.

Jadge Reatoni, K.O, made aj long personal statement in the City of London Court recently with reference to his association with the Corporation of London sa one of the Judges of the Court.{ His appointment, be said, wa made under Royal Warrant, and the Corporation had no authority to talk about reducing his salary, sa at a recent meeting of the Court of Common Council. The Corporation had no power what- ever over him; to attempt interference with his sota of discretion was very improper. The terms of his appointment were subj ̃ct to the supervision of the Lord Chancellor only. Ho wanted the Court to be taken Away from the City absolutely; in his opinion it was undesirable for a considerable number of the members of the Law and City Court Committes to consist of IESA who practized in those Ocarte, however high minded they were.
