US. Universities.

To ensure the speedy training (uf between 63,000 and 70,000 officers for America's new Armies,

the Government is taking over a large number of the leading universities in the country and converting them into training: schools. It is announced by the pre sidents of the Columbis, Fordham. (Roman Catholic), and New York Universities that ordinary curri- culum will be totally abandoned. These thres establishments will be organized as training camps. Columbia University alons expecta to enrol 4,000 Army students, who will wear uniforms, receive | regular Army pay, live in barraoks, and be subject generally to military discipline. The GoT ernment will pay the universities for the board tuition, sad lodging of the Army students.
