"The Queen's Red Cross Plg..

The chairman of the Red Crosa "Headquarters' Collection Com mittee bas suggested a plan for disposing of Daisy, the little pig presented to the Q seen and by her presented to the Red Cross. By this plan any lady or gentlema may become the owner of the pig for a single day for the sum of (say) £100, all-wing the owner- ship of Daisy to revert to the Red Cross at midnight, Two mem- bera of Parliament have already offered to become proprietors of Daisy for one day each, and have sent in their obeques for £100. It is confidently expected that others will follow this good example.

Germany's 185,000 Slaves. A memorial has been addressed to the British G verament by the Anti-Slavery and Aborigines Pro- teation Society praying that the King may be advised to proclaim at an early date the abolition of the legal status of slavery in Ger man East Africa. The memorial -states that upon the outbreak of war ibere were approximately in» German East Africa 185,000 elates, and that these were being so slowly smarcipated that less than 3,000 were set free arab year. It expresses the conviction that by making it clear that Great Britain is resolutely determined mat to tolerate slavery under her rule she would enhance still further her moral prestige among the peoples of Africa and indeed among the native races of the world. In addition to the signa- tures of the officials of the cocisty the memorial best bishops, peers, keada of religious ecoieties, members of Parliament, and other public man.
