Indian Plague.
The statistical abstract for British India published as a Par- liamentary Paper recently brings the record down to 1915 18. I ebowa that the plagne is still re- sponsible for 8 terrible death- roll. In British India io 1915 there were 380;501 deaths from plagus and 53,365 in "the Native Provinces, being an increase of 137,000 on the pre- vious year. In the 20 years ended in 1916 there were 7,557,313 plague destha in British India and 1,425,043 in the Native States, bringing the total up to 8,982,356. In 1915 there were 92,433 lepers in India-69,190 males and 23,243 femaler. In British India the execations in that year numbered 537. For the hols of India the number of widowed males is given as 3,709,755 and of females 28,491 282. For femalee this is equivalent to 23 widows for every 73 married women.
