American War Debt- The American war debt ja now aomewhat less than £2,500,000,- #000, or one-third the amount of Great Britain's war debt. Gardening for American Convalescents,

In the House of Commons re- -cently Sir John Batcher" asked the President of the Local Go Ternment Board if he would give, power to Tribunale to exempt from "military service the last surviving adult son of a widow or of a -woman whose husband wES A prisoner of war. In reply Mr. Stephen Walah said that Mr. Hayes Fisher had no power to extend the terms of the recent Proclamation which authorised Tribanale to grant exemption only in the case of the last umr- viving son of a widow of whom at least oze son had died of wounds.or sickness contracted on service. Empire Oil Resources. Di. Porkin, speaking at lectare at King's College recently emphasised the importance of oila to England.
