Viscounty for Lord Bertie.
The King has conferred a Viscounty of the United Kingdom upon Lord Bertie of Thane in recognition of his long and faith- ful services as Ambassador in Paris during the reign of three ERDOGSSITS Foversigue, and more especially during early four years of the great world war:
Morris Dances in the Army, "Four-year of warfare have done a great deal to improve the lot of the man in the ranks," writes a soldier who joined ap is 1914. "In every way he has 3 better time than was the esse in 1914. Thousanda of men are.] taught Morris dancing in the open air, sa ideal method of} combining exercise and pleasure, This last inovation speake volumes for the strides made in the treatment of the private eoldier. Veterans of the old Army open their eyes with astonish ment at the a gbt of a thousand men Morris dancing on the parade ground under the direction of a dancing mistress, to the scom- paniment of a piano and a couple of violine."
drest War Veterans.
The delegates from Winnipeg| and Ottawa have withdrawn from the Convention of the Great War Veterans at Toront: In a state- ment the seceding delegates declare that they received from. the Convention the unfortunate impression that an attempt w68 being made to oreste a politcal organisation with a view to run- ning the country. They also believed that there wae an effort on the part of an element at Toronto to use the sasociation for their own aggrandizement. They inaist that Toranto should have far more than 2,257 paid ups
a members, and object to the "general attituda of the Toronto representatives toward outside, " delegates.
