M:More Money Needed.

Spanking at a War Saringal meeting of the legal profession in the Middle Temple, Sir Robl Kinderley said the sum raised by. continuous borrowing daring the -xizmonths funded. March was £801 684,000, or at the rate of #1,384,000,000 a year. That was a big cum, but not big enough. If we raised the same amount during the coming six months it would bave a deficit of £746,000,- | 800. Women as Lawyers, Speaking at the Trocadero recently, Lady Mackworth pointed out that though there was

officient amcunt, but not too maob, of unskilled labour to meet the demand, there was a serious difficulty of obtaining educated and killed labour. If women would make up their "minde to ΠΟΥ and follow the work instead of expecting the work to come to them, they would be fulfilling a national need. Miaa Belea Normanton, in speaking of the legal profession for women, said the way to open this pro- fession to women was a short and simple one now that women were enfranchised. "When you are called upon to exercise yonc vota at the next election, if your candidate is a lawyer, sak him how be dare ask for your vote if bis profession is not open' to women. Don't have bim!" There was a big field, added the speaker, for the woman lawyer in all questions respecting guardianship of children and divorce, and, now that women were engaged so largely in industrial work, in the large number” of caree which would arise during the next few years auder the Workmen's Compensa tion Act.
