A Norwegian pilot, who has piloted the Kaiser on 25 cruises, has returned his German decor ations to the German Legation at Christianis with the following letter When these decorations were bestowed on me for good pilotage along the coast of Nor- way it was a pleasure to me to- receive them, but now these decorations are only distasteful to myself and my family owing to the baroc among our gallant seamen, who have had to lose their lives in an abominable way, among them many of my com- rades, and also owing to the murder of our sesmen in the Arctic. Therefore I hereby return thed corations, which I no longer appreciate.

Japanese Steamer Missing. The salvage s. Oura-Maru, 600 tons, of the Nippon Salvage Company, which left Mojone Aurust 3, to trace the s. Koyei. Maru, reported to be drifting south of Quelpart Island, has been unable to find her and has returned to Moji On August 31 s police patrol-boat reported the steamer adrift twelve miles west of Quelpart. The owners sent. the s. Kaisen Maru' II, manned by the original crew of the Kovei Mary, from Mokpo on September 2 to search for the Koyal Maro, but without succees. The master" of the NY, K.
