The N.Y.K. Shanghai Lina,TM The Nippon Yusen Kaisha has recently withdrawn the Chikuzen- maru and the Kumano-maru from the Shanghai line, in other words, the tonnage on this line has been reduced by one half, and as a result & growing accumulation of Japan cargo af Shanghai is reported. The steamship company has now decided to remove the Saishu maru from the Kobe-Qfaru line to the Shanghai route.in a few days. The Lisotung maru will also be placed on this route shortly."

It was believed that the chartere. of vessels by the Japaness Gov- ernment. in connection with the Vladivostok expedition would produce no noticeable effect on the shipping market, but it is now reported that the number of al steamers requisitioned has been Fuddenly increased, the result. being an advance in freight and charter rate son the shipping market in Koba.
