Harrison, representing the Leyland Line, said in a few appropriate words that he was !pleased their company, and in this case Captain Williams and the crew of their ship the Albanian, had been of such signal service as to save the crew of a sinking Norwegian ship. He was sure Norwegians would do similarly if a British ship was as unfortunate.

Awards for Bravery at Sea.

Charles Young (16), of Sunder- land, has been awarded a diploma of honour by the Executive Council of the Shipping Federat ion in recognition of meritorious service as a member of the crew of the steamer John Sanderson in circumstances demanding an exceptional degree of skill and courage. The circumstances" had to do with a U-boat attack. Young, who was acting as deckboy, was on his first voyage, Eleven months ago, Lieut. James Henry Arnold, RN R. son of Mr. Jobn Arnold, barbourmaster at Sunderland, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for special service at sea while in command of an armed trawler. Mr. Arnold has only now received the decoration at the hands of the King, Prior to the war, he was chief officer with Messrs. James Westoll, shipowners, Bunderland, with whom be served
