Britain's Trade Rivals. What broadly distinguished American from English society was the sbeence of tradition, asid Mr. Gordon Selfridge, presiding on Deo 5th at a meeting of the Aldwych Club. Lack of edua3- ) tional

and he s8 glad to hear! that a University degree in -commerce was given in Birming- ham and Edinburgh. A similar practice was adopted in America' aome time ago, and Harvard and Columbia had organised remark. ably fine commerical courses. A Chinese Discovery. According to the Chinese Press an interesting diecovery has been made by the Chinese police, who recently found concealed in a house near Langhua a complete wireless telegraphy outfit. It appears that" ite OWDER of, the property, а paper marahant, living in the Inter national Settlement, purchased four years ago about 12 - mow of land for the purpose of establish- ing there a tomb and shrines for the reception of ancestral tablets. In one of the room of a honio was discovered a wire- Jane installation concealed in s wooden case, while from another. room projected a pole bearing the aerials. The place has been scaled by the authorities who have placed a guard over it and it is reported that the matter will be brought before the International- M'red Court.
