Analogy on the 'Phone.

Mr. John Lee, in the Telegraph and Telephons Journal, dealing with the standardised words used in the analogical repetition of telegrame, tells of 'ose in Liver- pool where a subscriber, who had not the sweetest of tempera, dictated a telegram in a particu larly rasping, irritating voice, with the accompaniment of cer tain comments. The operator in reply chose words of her own for analogy, and the repeated “and by A. for aus, N. for noddle, D. for donkey. "I understand she was punished, but I never felt quite happy about it."

The growing scarcity of ben- xina and rubber in Sweden basl necessitated a drastic reduction off automobile traffic in Stockholm. No toxicabe whatever may be operated after 9 p.m. or before 7 a.m., and they may not go out of a very restricted district.
