Dya Works for Tairen. Adye-stuff manufactory, to be known as the Tamato Dye-Stuff: Manufactory -- is – projected at Tairen at the instance of two capitalists" of “Japan-^and” the Teijun Yoko, Tairen. Cotton Control Board.
On August 18, the Manchester correspondentofthe Economist wrote the following. Which is of interest as the working of the scheme was mentioned briefly in Heuter's service recently --After some delay the Dalton Control Board has published its scheme for conserving supplies of craw cotton and regulations have been issued which provide for the stoppage of 40 per cent, of the spinning and weaving machinery : in Lancashire from the beginning of September. There are certain exceptions to the general rules, and on conditions laid down by the Board it will be possible for certain firms to run more than 60 per cent of their machinery on the payment of levica. Thé funds created in this way will be used: to supplement the unemployment funds of the trade unions, and to ameliorate the, want and distress which the temporarily unemploy ed operatives would otherwise be, put to. In view of these officials have suspended their arrangements the trade union application for an, increase in wages. It remains" to be seen how the scheme will work out. To many firms it is much against the grain to discharge operatives, and it is understood that in. certain septions as much mach- Luery as possible, will be run, and the necessary penalties paid. The prospects for larger supplies. of raw cotton in Lancashire are" improving, the imports during the past fortnight being on a freer scale than for a long time back. The Shipping Controller has promised to make, a very strong effort to increase the | tonnage available for raw cotton,
It is worth pointing out that the... schome which is about to be put into forse has been compiled by the trade itself, and it is under- stood the Board of Trade at one point in the negotiations was not at all favourable to the pro- posals: The regulations will last..... for three months, and it is hoped that at the end of that period.the": Fabnormal position will be much; relieved, and that it will be pos sible for the restrictions to be removed.
