Chiers Over a Gravel
8
As a memorial to the late Mr. Harry Orball, who was the chie! organiser for the Dook, Wharf, Riverside and General Workers' Union, Mr. Ben Tillett, the general secretary of. the
unveiled nion, recently red. granite beadpiece over the grave in the Tower Ham- lets Cemetery, Bon, E. Mr. Ben Tillett said that they were glori lying a man who lived every moment of his life for the workers, and who gave that life willingly for them. "God rest his soul," exclaimed Mr. Tillett, and called. for "three cheers for the ecciel revolution-aboars," he declared, which they could well hope their dend comrade would hear." Cheers were then given, many of the men waving their bata.
Songs our Soldiers Like. Mt. Gervass, Elwes, the well- known vocalist, who in private life in High Sheriff of Northamp ton, states that bit "experience with Miss L•ns Athwall's concert party, at the front strengthens hie belief that" the better the musio the better the soldier likes it. "The songs our party were particularly asked to "eing were principally old English favour ites, simple is sentiment and Jnost opmartial in spirit," esid Mr. E'wes in interview yesterday. "I must have sung Stanford's 'A Carol of Bella' thirty times in s month, and Whore'er You Walk (Handel), and Roger Quilter's 'Roadside Flower' on many occasions. Apart from the musical side, what struck me most was the marvellous "optimism and cheerinses of our men. There is no talk of losing the war out there-not' even of a draw."

Mr. Ballantyne claimed this as a world's record in school attendance.
