THE OFFENSIVE IN THE WEST.

Field Marakal Sir Douglas" Haig reports: --We-captured a ngth of German trench to the west of Lens and an enemy post în the neighbourhood of Lombartsyde, securing prisoners and a machine gun. To the east of Epehy, the artillery is active.

The Germans used filty battalions, and their losses are estimated at between 12,000 and 15,000.
