Change for The Better.

It is proposed to change the name of the well-known hotel at Effingham from the "Blucher" to the Sir Douglas Haig..

Golf Links and Cultivation. A proposal; having been made to bring the Kingsgate Golf Links into cultivation, it was stated at. a mesting of Broadstairs Council that the year before war brike out the links brought £30,000 into the distriót.

The Connoil

decided to support the local agri- cultural committee in recom- mending that links all over the country should be treated alike so that patriotic districte ébould not suffer at the expanse of the aupatriotic.

London Goal Supply.

The London Liberat M.P.a recently passed a resolution view- ing with great anxiety the coal supply for small consumers dur- ing the coming winter, and re- quanting the President of the Board of Trade to receive a deputation to arge open bim the necessity of at once making proper arrangements for such transport, and dia. storage, tribution of coal as will be f cient" to meet the needs of the metropolis.

British Sailing Ship on a Reel.

Some time ago a British nail- ing ship was aground on a reef in the Maidiver, and the Ceylon Wharfage Company's Tag Lady Inchape wss sent to her assÎN- tance. The latter craft returned to Colombo recently, and reports that very heavy weather was prevail- ing, ass result of which the railing ship had shifted her position to one more unfavourable. She was, however, not making any water. The Lady Inobape failed to tow her cft, and the iden now is to aend two toge to the vessel's afsistance.

No Suppression of State Insurance.

Replying to a deputation from the National Union of. Womer Workers at the Local Government Board, Lord Rhondda stated that

there had teen no suggestion of suppressing suy part of the State Insurance administration, but that the question before the Gov- ernment was simply bew to.co. ordinate the health activities, et present carried on onder different authorities; and to prepare for the great national work of recon- atraction in matters relating to bealth and boueing.
