Duke of Connaught's "Silver Woll."*
The Date of Connaught, in opening the new headquarters of the Boy Scout movementia Back- ingham Falace-road, ssid be waa Chief Scout in Canada doring the five years of his Governorship, and bad recently beard that the "movement there was still making progress. There were similar organisations in France, Russia, and other countries, and in the United States he believed the Boy Sconte numbered 260,000. Properly worked, the movement might go a long way towards. improving relationships with the youth of other nations. General Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the Chief Scout, asked the Dake to accept, as a souvenir, what the. Sooats called the "Silver Wolf," only in this cate the "S.Iver Woll" was made of gold. Be.alio saked his Royal Highness to pre- went the Order of the "Siver Wolf" to General Jiries and Mr. Percy Armytage, who had done ea mech for the movement.
A Vicar's "God-Sead." The Rev. W. Howard Ccatee, vicar of Christ Church, Plymouth,) underwent public examination, in the Benkraptcy Court, Plymnath, recently. Bis statement of fira showed a deficiency of £532. He said that bis income in recent youre bad fallen cff, but was acoat 2500 a year. Be bad bad dealings with moceylenders for the last eight years. His wife, who had a separate income, paid his deb's about three years ago. En Aazust "last, when applying to a Dew moneylender," be said that bia debts were £40. They.wire mach more, but he thought that every- one knew practically bow he stood. He believed that if he told all be would not get any money. Ia October, when applying for an- other loan, he did not make a fall disclosure, but weid. that the money was wanted for the restora tion of the vicarage. Bis first borrowing was through the receipt of a letter one morning esclosing £100. It was a moneylender'e bait, but he thought it a god-send, and, being heavily pressed, waR tempted. The examination wie adjourned for further accounts.
