Disastrous fire at Mukden, On Wednesday evening (Juna 27) at 7 o'clock fire broke out at a Chinese Hotel near the S. MER. station at Makden. The place where the outbreak occutred abounds in tall buildings and în the most thriving quarter of Makder. The fire spread with great rapidity and more than 60 large buildings were de- stroyed before the fismes were subdred. Amongst the buildings destroyed were the branch offices of the Byoto Shimpo and Auto Shimpo, of the Antung Ginko, the S.M.R. Club, and other-wall- known offices. A large number of people are reported to have been killed and injured, though definite" information is still un- obtainable. The loss is roughly estimated at Y1,000,000.

**Fag Day.

A fisg day was hela in London recently with the object of pro- viding tobacco for wounded sailors and soldiers in homa and foreign hospitals. It was organised by the Smokee Fand, and was popularly described as "Fag Day."
