The City of Corinth's Cargi
Thess City of Corinth; which sunk recently in the Engliske Channel, is said to have sailed Bome time ago from Yokohama with raw silk and other Japanese Roods. Of the insuranos opatracta made on these, shipments, the Tokyo Marine Insurance Com paoy is said to be responsible for about Y150,00.

By arrangement with MeeSTA, Alfred Holt & Co., vessels of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha will tod alternately on the East and West Consts of the United Kingdom, thus providing a monthly service frem Middlesbrough and London, and a monthly service from Birkenhead. At the latter part the loading arrangements will be under the control of Messrs. Alfred Holt & Co., also`all f eight quotations and engagements. After leaving Birkenhead, the movements of the vessels will be entirely under the control of the company.

Mr. F.W: Maze. Commissioner of Customs for the port, of Chingwang tao, says in his report of 1916: The number of ships. entered and cleared was 1,028, record figure. However, the tonn- age, which is slightly in excess of that recorded for 1915, is some ........ 270,000 tons below the total for 1914. No ocean vess:la of large tonnage from abroad called at the port during 1916, with the- exception of an oil ship fem America. The shipping composed principally of collier of medium tonnage, Out of 508 1st amers which entered the port. during the year, only 129 brought cargo, chiefly from Shanghai. American Government steamera plied regularly during the year between this port and: Manils. taking away coal and cement for Government use.
