Messrs. Benjamin and Potte, in their share report dated Friday, the 20th of April, 1917, stato:--
Since our last report of the 13th instant, the local market has remained on the dull side, and prices have in many cases dropped. The rehas been less enquiry for speculative stocks than for sometime past, and few transactions are recorded. Investment shares still remain in demand, and there are not many sellers at current quctatione,
The Shanghai market has improved during the week, and at the close Cottons shares are wanted at improved rates. Balas have been made of Ewor at Tla. 150, Shanghai Cottona at Tla. 120, and Kangyiks at Tis. 141. Shanghai Docks have recovered somewhat, and buyers are now offering Tla, 901. Langkate are nominal at Tis. 17.
The Singapore market remains quiet, with prices practically unchanged. Plantation rubber comes through to day at 3/04 to 2/134, market strady.
B&NKS-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks have further advanced to a kuying quotation of $710 after walse at this mata. MARINE & FIRE INSURANCES.--Unions have been done at $9124, and are now wanted at $915. Cantons could be placed at 8375,and Hongkong Firee have buyers at $330. Tanglezes are quoted nominal at #217, ekoh. 73, ex the dividend of $18 paid on the 14th instant. Chinu Fires are still enquired for at $155.
SHIPPING.-Deferred Indos were done early in the week at $120), but have since declined to a selling quotation of $124. Douglases Gra had a further sharp drop to $80 nollers, sales at under this rate baving been made, but not officially reported. As the close the market little firmer. Steambosfa have been placed at $18, and Star Ferries are still wanted at $34. Shells have again changed hande * #107), and more shares are wanted.
