Elephantiasis in London.

A women, whose death wAS investigated at Southwark r5 cently, was slated by Dr. Hark. lote to be suffering from elephan- tiasis, a disease rarely met with in England, bat prevalent in India and the East, says. Home paper. How the woman, who had never been out of England, could bave contracted the disease(which played no part in her death) was a mystery unless it had been im ported in skins which came into the district. The doctor ex plained that the disease entered the

stomach, developing in the form of

worm. The male worm died, but the female worm survived and even- taelly bored through the walls of the stomach and got into the blood, fading its way generally into the leg, which seeumed tha appearance of an elephant's foot. It was not a disease which killed people.
