A YEAR'S TRADE.
HONGKONG'S MARKETS IN 1916.
A REVIEW OF SOME OF THE COLONY'S COMMERCIAL DEALINGS.
Trade in Hongkong during the year just drawing to a close has been affected by a variety of unusual conditions-the war, the unrest in South Chins, and the ficotuations in exchange, to mention only a few-bat, on the whole, the twelve months may be written down as fairly satisfactory. In some lines, great prosperity has been experienosd, while in others it has been a trying year all through. In all branches, the complex and uncertain conditions prevailing have caused a deal of anxiety to be felt, and have called for the exarciss of sound judgment. Below we give brief reviews of the year's operations in some of the principal trades, and we hope Ister to publish a few other reports.
