Daring Attack on Bulgarians.

A Russian communique says:-On the Rumanian front, the enemy's attempla at an offensive were repulsed in the Dobradje.
Detachment withdrew northwards after stubbornly resisting superior forces on the whole front.
A regiment daringly attacked the advancing Bulgarians, who were thrown into a laka and mostly drowned.

General Sir Douglas Haig reports: -We repaleed an attempted raid opposite the Hohenzollern Ridoubt. Our artillery dispares working parties to the north of the Auers.
A BARON'S BRAVERY.
Killed Whilst Serving as a Private,
December 22, 1.45 p.m.
The death is reparted, in action, of Biroa Elabset de Bauter, the only son of the late Biron de Bacter. He was killed at Beanmat Hamel on November 13, while serving as a private in the Black Watch. Through his persistent bravery and resouros, his platoon of twenty men captured a Garmza offis: and 97 min.
He was killed while carrying a third comrade to a pisca of asfaty.
The Colonel of his regiment writes that he had intended to re-.- commend,deceased for a very high distinction if he had lived.
PRESIDENT WILSON'S NOTE.
December 22, 2.30 p.m.
In the House of Commons, Mr. Boaar Law refused to make s statement regarding President Wilson's Note. He declared that the question could only by dealt with in communication with our Allies.
WHAT PORTUGAL IS DOING.
December 22, 6.60 p.m.
The President of Portugal, interviewed, stated that at present there are 15,000 splendidly-trained troops bolding the Rovams River from the Indian Ocean to Nyasas, while 6,000 additional troops are proceeding thither from Portugal. The Portugasse effort in Europe would be made at a moment when it would have the maximum effect.

EPIDEMIC.
Sixty-two Deaths This Week.
The return, isnned by Dr. Woodman, Medical Officer of Health, showing the number of cases of infectious diseases notifed daring the week ending Dacam- 22, reveals no long than
89 fresh cases of amell-pox, of which 70 occurred in Bongkang and 19 in Kowloon. Of these, 63 cases proved fatal, and among the oase notified. Åra Britieb, 1 American and the rest Chinese.
The only other infections disesas notified in the Colony during the period was eateria fever, six cases (four from Victoria and two from Kowloon), the subjects infected being one Bri- tish, one Norwegian sad the rest Chinese. There were two fatal
